Hi, thanks for stopping by.
It only seems like yesterday that I travelled to Australia from Northern Ireland with 3 suitcases and ideas of exploring a different way of life. A few years on, I now share this life with my partner, his kids, a couple of chickens and an abundance of Aussie wildlife on the Northern Beaches of Sydney.
I have always lived at or near the sea, albeit in a city. There are many lifestyle similarities at any coastal location. However, there is no denying that the warm, sub-tropical climate in New South Wales makes it easier to follow a healthy way of life than anywhere I have lived before. The stunning backdrop of green coastal headlands, golden beaches, and the turquoise waters of lakes and ocean is reason enough to inspire anyone to get out and about.
Sea change from city to coastal lifestyle
For years I dreamt of working at home. So, when the opportunity came along, I jumped at it. No more daily commute, no more slavery to the 9-5 routine. What’s not to like? I now have the flexibility of choosing where, when and how I work. With a computer and an internet connection, I could pretty much work anywhere. I love that I don’t have to spend 2 hours in traffic every day; that I get to listen to the birds whilst working; that I can walk up the beach at lunchtime.
In theory, the change from enclosed city living to a coastal lifestyle should offer all kinds of positives for anyone. In this blog, I will explore how working from home translates into benefits for health and wellbeing, all whilst paying for my pension. Because, no matter where you work, you have to make ends meet!
I’ll share what I learn along the way. Feel free to join me on the journey, I’d love to have you along!
