Hi, thanks for stopping by.
It only seems like yesterday that I emigrated to Australia. I left Northern Ireland with 3 suitcases to try out a different way of living and working. A few years on and I’m still here, living on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, renovating an old Aussie fibro beach house with my partner, and figuring out this new work/life balance.
Sea change from city to coastal lifestyle
I have always lived near the sea but there is no denying that the NSW sub-tropical climate makes it easier to spend more time outdoors, all year round. The stunning backdrop of green coastal headlands, golden beaches and turquoise waters would inspire anyone to get out and about. And get out and about, I do. I love exploring the beaches and green spaces that make this region so unique. Learning to live alongside the native wildlife keeps things interesting too.
Making the lifestyle work
For years, I dreamt of finding a more flexible way to work. When the opportunity arose to work at home, I jumped at it. No more 2 hour commutes in city traffic fumes or waiting for public transport in searing temperatures or torrential rain. Now, my commute is about 30 seconds. And when I get to my desk, I get to listen to the birds in our garden whilst working. I can choose to walk to the beach at lunchtime. It’s not as easy as it sounds though. I have discovered that the best things about being home-based, are often the very things that can torpedo your success. I’m still learning how to get the balance right.
Explore with me…
In this blog, I explore flexible working, beach house renovating and options for a healthier lifestyle and living environment. I’ll share what I’m learning along the way, but I want to hear about your experiences too. Life is one big lesson, and we can all help each other!
